High Rate Solid Contact Clarifiers
Overview
A High Rate Solid Contact Clarifier (HRSCC) is an advanced clarification system that combines coagulation, flocculation, sludge recirculation, and clarification within a single unit. The process utilizes recycled sludge as a contact medium to accelerate floc formation and improve settling efficiency, resulting in superior clarification performance and reduced treatment time.
HRSCC systems are widely used in Water Treatment Plants (WTP), Industrial Water Treatment, Surface Water Treatment, and Process Water Applications where high clarification efficiency and compact design are required.
Treatment Process Flow
Raw Water → Coagulant Dosing → Flash Mixing → Solid Contact Zone → Flocculation Zone → Clarification Zone → Clear Water Collection → Sludge Recirculation & Blowdown
Working Principle
The raw water enters the central mixing zone where coagulants are added. Previously formed sludge is continuously recirculated, promoting rapid floc formation. The heavier flocs settle in the clarification zone, while clarified water overflows through peripheral launders. A portion of settled sludge is recirculated and excess sludge is periodically discharged.
